Did i kill my chances?

I applied to PSU-UP (business major) mid january, they should've had everything 1/17. I have a 3.765 and a 1260 sat, what are my chances looking like?

if that 3.765 is W i still think you have a great shot. Kill chances?? please. No.

IF that 3.765 is UW i might be seeing you next year in some of my classes.

Your chances would've been great if you applied early around october. But good lucky though.

its weighted, its the gpa on my transcript and thats the gpa that penn state takes... correct?

Hopefully PSU doesn't recalculate GPA, but ONLY looks at the GPA on the transcript! I'll see you in 2 years Cheapseats HOPEFULLY! HAHA! :)

No PSU does in fact recalculate GPA. They put their own weight on an AP or honors course..... by the way- are you in state?

I am OOS.....

And where did you hear this?

You're GPA is above PSU standards, but the SAT doesn't really matter to them. GPA is 2/3 of the process and SAT is 1/3. I have a friend who was rejected with a 1270 SAT and a 3.4 weighted GPA IN STATE with alumni.. and this was in december.

z5sharp: I know this because the admissions lady that came to my school told us.

How do they recalculate GPA? Does anyone know the formula?

Someone's been lied to then. I was told that GPA is not recalculated...

This was taken DIRECTLY from the PSU website:
"We prefer to use the weighted GPA because we feel that schools have identified the courses within their curriculum that are more rigorous. The weighted GPA more accurately reflects student performance and the demands of the curriculum."
So no, they do not recalculate your GPA.

Thanks for setting this issue straight, GuitarUser. I thought I was going crazy...

Haha yeah no problem. Life lesson: people who describe themselves as "juicy" are not to be trusted.

that juicky girl is a retard

ACTUALLY. My mom part-time professor at Penn State. Although they may tell you that they use the weighted GPA, that is false. I have heard from 2 reliable sources and every single student in my school thinks that is the way that it works. That is what our Guidance department tells us. So before you say that i am a retard, think again. I know what i'm talking about. Your information is false.

If i didn't make this clear- YES, they use SOME FORM of a weighted GPA (they put their own weight on honors/AP's) but they do not take the weighted GPA your high school gives them.

Wait, didn't you say in a previous post that you knew that PSU put their own weight on a GPA because the admissions lady told you? Now your mother, a "part-time professor", is the reliable source. Which is it? Your right, juicy, we'll discredit the Penn State website and believe the fact that every single student in your school is pretty sure they put their own weight on.

I SAID 2 Reliable sources. The admin. lady is one and my mom is two. I am done arguing, you can believe what you want.

no one is trying to give false information and i assume everyone is just trying to help everyone out. whats with the name calling over the internet? come on now, we're all better than that
