Did I Make a Future Mistake?

Although it is basically too late, I am a sophomore in high school. I was given two choices for the high school I would attend: one that is nationally known for its rigor with the IB Program or a magnet program attached to a public high school that carries out extensive research every year along with rigorous science, math, and an interdisciplinary class where you learn coding, 3D printing, statistics, etc. I decided to go for the magnet program attached with a high school because I believe it is geared more towards the STEM field; I also believe it would give me multiple connections with people from different schools and districts. Would it hinder me in the college app process that I didn’t choose the IB program and come from a school that is not so known? If so, is there a way I can stand out more?

No, it does not.

If you love STEM and want STEM opportunities, then you did well by not choosing IB, which is generally more geared towards humanities and writing.

Fret not. Do as well as you can in the school you have chosen. Take advantage of the research, coding, etc.

Keeping good grades and exposing yourself to extracurriculars within your desired major should help.
