...when I chose University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign over the University of Washington for my Study Abroad? (My major is math).

It's just that whenever I ask someone in those 'this or this' threads which one they'd choose out of Illinois and Washington, they almost always seem to choose Washington.

People pick Washington because it’s in a big city. If you’re going to live somewhere for 4 years, then that’s important. If you’re just studying abroad for a semester, then it doesn’t really matter. Go to the football games and get drunk a lot – that’s the American college experience and both are prominent at Illinois. Visit Chicago (3 hours away) if you must see big cities. It’s arguably more impressive than Seattle. I don’t think either choice could be called a mistake for your purposes.

It’ll be for a year actually, which is quite a long time. I think I might email admissions to change my second choice to Washington actually.

One thing that might bug me though it that Illinois is more diverse and according to College *******, has a much more attractive female student body. Yes, I actually care about that sort of crap.

Although Washington’s campus is much more attractive, and I’ve always been one to choose universities based on their architecture.

There are beautiful women in Washington. They’re just a little covered up sometimes. I personally would choose UW and Seattle, which I imagine offer a more multicultural experience.

Seattle is better than Urbana-Champagne (Chicago is 3 hours away)

It does rain in Seattle… but I’ll take rain over below freezing temperatures all winter long

I promise there is no shortage of beautiful women on campus

Washington State is more interesting than Illinois (I was born in Chicago and currently reside in Seattle so I feel qualified to make that statement)

You’d have a good time at UofI, but you wouldn’t regret UW either
