Did I make the RIGHT choice? Having Second Thoughts?

Hello,

Well, I have been on CC browsing around and occasionally posting to get the opinions of others. I have been admitted to the following schools:

Emory U.(attending)
Notre Dame
Tufts
USC
Carnegie Mellon
Wake Forest
UCLA (Out of State)
Northwestern

I was admitted to those above schools... eventually I ended up choosing Emory because of many reasons: I loved it when I visited, people were friendly, location, weather, profs... everything seemed too good to be true! However, as you see from my list, there are some other great schools that I was lucky enough to be accepted to. I already paid my deposit for Emory but I am feeling very nervous. Did I make the right choice? Will the things I learn at Emory serve me well in the future? Did I give up anything by not going to those other schools? I'm not sure but maybe this anxiety is normal... but its kind of making me nervous.

I'm just not sure if it was the right choice... don't get me wrong... I love Emory... but maybe I would've loved those other places too! Can anyone give me some advice? Am I just fussing about nothing here? Is this feeling normal?

You’re the one who looked up these schools, visited, and applied. We don’t know better than you. If you feel that Emory is best, go for it.

Emory is a great school! Congratulations on your decision! Buyer’s remorse is very common. What you need to do is get rid of all the thoughts of the other schools that you’ve been stressing over during the last month. Revel in Emory. Look at their student newspaper, buy a t-shirt, explore online all about things to do in the area, which courses you’d like to take, etc. This is the next step.

Enjoy your summer and best of luck to you at Emory. You’ll love it!

(My niece is graduating Emory next weekend and it went way too fast for her. She’s sad to leave it.)

I personally would have never decided on Emroy though if you feel the school is best for you then you should be happy to go there.

It’s normal, Buyer’s Remorse bothers many people a little bit for a little while. Relax, you’ll love Emory.

OP, you made the right choice. Stop worrying and enjoy the soon-to-be summer vacation.

Hey kid, good choice…

enjoy the summer and come back in December to tell us how great Emory has been…

I’ve been in that same boat. After I committed to my school, I went through this whole phase of not necessarily buyer’s remorse, but just worry that I was caught up in other factors while making my choice. In any case, the next time I went to visit my school, every qualm about my decision dissipated.

Once you return to campus, I’m certain you won’t care about the schools you left behind.

Congratulations!!! :D

Yeah man, what you are going through is normal. I had a very tough time choosing between Duke, Rice, Emory, and WashU at this time last year. Emory was my dream school for the longest time, and I had some serious regret of turning it down. Anyway, now, I am very glad I am at Rice. Your buyer’s remorse should go away after you enroll; if not , then consider applying as a transfer to some of the other schools you got into (at least giving it a shot for 1 entire semester). However, if you went with your gut feeling on where you would be happiest, then you should be fine.

Congratulations on choosing Emory though! it is quite an underrated school that seems to offer a lot to undergrads.

You will be fine. You liked Emory enough that you chose it over several other fine schools.

I was in the same situation up until the end of my freshmen year. (It was Rice vs Duke)

personally i chose usc over emory only because of the business/film there. good decision!

@noobcake: That’s quite interesting that you were still thinking about Rice during your freshman year at Duke. For most of 1st semester and first part of 2nd semester (and even now occassionally), I wonder whether I would be happier at Duke. Nevertheless, I am still happy that I came here!

You went to Emory!?! Oh no!!!

Just kidding. You’ll be fine.

I think you’ll be very happy there and you’ll succeed as a result. I have a friend who went there and LOVED it.

What’s your intended major ?
