Did I make the wrong choice?

I want to major in Computer Science. I’m a sophomore right now and for my junior year I chose for my ap classes Calculus AB, AP Lang, and AP US. But now i have doubts about AP Chem and whether or not I should have taken it. I can only handle 3 AP classes at most and if I take AP chem during senior year it will ruin my schedule I planned out (AP CS, CALC BC, and AP Physics C). I don’t know what will happen to my chances to getting into a good Computer Science Major ( I plan to go to a UC either San Diego or some other UC). Can someone help me?

What are your other junior year classes? Are you taking regular chem next year? If so I wouldn’t worry about it being “regular” and not AP given the rigor of your other junior year classes. But I know that colleges do prefer to see that you have at least taken bio, chem, and physics by graduation, preferably AP in at least one of more, so the fact that AP Physcis C will be in the mix senior year is excellent. Anyway I would recommend taking regular chem next year.

Sign up for AP Chem. If it is too hard, then drop down to H or regular Chem after a few weeks.

BTW, the UCs give an extra GPA point to AP or H courses. However, only for 4 of them, taking soph or jr yr.
There is a list on ucop doorways (or something like that) where you can see if the class at your HS qualifies for the honors point. You type in the name of your HS and the name of the class. All extra AP classes will count towards taking a rigorous curriculum by your GC and when the UC looks at the overall rigor of your curriculum (which they probably don’t have the time to do), but will not boost your GPA.

Are you serious? You sound too obsessive about college. You are a sophomore, get off CC and focus on high school. Come back senior year.

Well… Junior year.

Are you allowed to take ap chem in addition to tour current schedule? If not, you’re okay in terms of AP’s. UC’s have a limit on them (8i believe) anyway and math counts way more as well as English in other “counting formulas”

Top universities want 4years each of English, math, science, social science, foreign language; preferably one each of physics, chemistry, and physics; a total of 4-8aps over all 4years of hs, and about 5 classs per year either honors or ap (3APs,2 honors for instance), and a personal choice (choir, shop, debate, current events, yearbook…) If you can.
Note that level reached substitutes for exact number of years, so that I you reach AP Spanish sophomore year you’re good (but are always welcome taking 2years of an extra language  )
So, how are you doing?
