My second semester has been somewhat lackluster despite my best efforts in addition to my grandfather passing away he was close to me, which has weighed on me personally. I ended the Semester with poor grades in two of my classes one of whch is an AP.

Btw the first choice in question is Gettysburg College and I early submitted an early decison II. The question is did I mes up my chances for my first choice

It depends on what you mean by “poor grades”.

Obviously, straight A+s would be great, but not everyone gets straight A+s. If by “poor grades” you mean A, A-, B+, B, or even B-… you’re okay.

If you mean C+ or anything lower… you might have a little to worry about.

But- many colleges offer you a chance to explain any extenuating circumstances (in your case, the lose of your grandfather). Definitely explain your situation.

I have two D’s and a very high C in Government

Anyone else want to give me some more feedback?

It would be greatly appricated.

I’m so sorry about your loss…

In this case, you or your counselor might want to send a letter to your colleges of choice explaining your circumstances. I am sure Gettysburg will understand your situation.

Ok I guess I should tell her then
