<p>One does not have to put down one’s SSN if one is NOT applying for financial aid. Those who are, were asked to put down the SSN. So yes, OP did mess up because OP did not follow directions. The Common App will go through without the SSN since there are students who are NOT applying for financial aid, but that is not the case of this applicant. </p>
<p>What you need to do is contact every single Admissions office and tell them you did not put down your SSN, and you are applying for financial aid and have completed the PROFILE. Do what each office asks you to do in terms of getting your SSN added to your application so that you get your financial aid without any issues that go with a missing SSN. Put your SSN into the Common App for future apps so you don’t have to flag your mistake for those… </p>
