I applied early action and got deferred, and I don't mean to be overconfident or anything, but I was surprised. Now I am wondering if it was because they didn't have all of my info by the deadline. I filled out the form and paid the fee online for the collegeboard to send my sat scores before the deadline, but only by a few days and it said they may not get to georgetown for three weeks which would be after the deadline. Could this have hurt my chances? I am just wondering so I can be sure not to make the same mistake again.
(ps- I did the exact same thing with BC and also got deferred)

it seems like you figured it out. It didn't make it in time.

No. The Georgetown University website acknowledges that because of the Early Action deadline, some students may not have taken all of their SAT tests yet. Thus, while Regular Decision applicants are REQUIRED to have all 3 SAT Subject tests and the SAT, it is not required for Early Action Applicants. Even so, I took the SATs this November and still sent them, and I got accepted.

I agree this probably wasn't the reason for your deferral. My D was deferred from a different school and she asked her guidance counselor to call the admissions rep to see if she could do anything to improve her application. They basically said to send a letter indicating her interest. Could you ask your GC to call Georgetown and see if they can get any feedback for you? Maybe there is something you can send in now to improve your RD chances.

Thanks so much for the responses. I hope it wasn't because of the sat scores being late, because I would be so mad at myself if it was over something stupid. I have a meeting with my counselor next week, so hopefully she will be able to give me some feedback.

Agh, I'm applying RD and I think my SAT scores might be late. Uh Oh?

I wouldn't sweat it about the late SAT score. They don't go through all the apps in 1 day so if the scores are a couple of days late, they will just get added to a (probably) unread file.
