Did I miss something? HELP!

I am applying to more than 6 schools for financial aid and almost all of them want me to MAIL the full 2008 tax return packets and business supplements and all this other stuff (some are asking for 2007 tax returns) to their offices or through IDOC. I did CSS and FAFSA for all of these schools too. The CSS questions were neverending, asking questions as specific as the number of cars we own etc.

I guess what I am trying to ask is do colleges really look into all of this and do I really need to send all this information or did I miss something? I mean it is looking as if applying for financial aid is more difficult than applying for the college itself, and I don't even know if I am even going to get into any of them yet.

yes, you won't get a financial aid package (with your acceptance) unless you do.

They can't wait until they send out acceptances to start getting all the info they need to create a FA package for each student.

Tax returns are standard for financial aid. And yes, you need to do this now so your package can be ready if you are accepted.

Applying for aid is tedious and I don't understand why you are upset/annoyed. Maybe I'm misreading your post? If I am, I apologize. Please remember that you are asking schools for gift aid. Treat it like a gift. It's their money you want, so give them every form they ask for and do it promptly.
