I love Brown, it is my first choice school. The environment, the students…everything about it fits me perfectly. My interview went great–he told me I was an excellent fit at Brown. All my essays were awesome as well. However, I am afraid that the issue I am about to explain ended it for me.
For those of you familiar with the QuestBridge program, to be considered for its benefits, you need to write a bunch of supplemental essays. My counselor told me about it the week before the due date, so I essentially didn’t have time to meticulously craft my essays to make them the best as they could have been.
I got rejected from the program (couldn’t find another teacher for my second recommendation, so my app was incomplete.)
Come early December, Brown sends me an email saying they would waive they fee if I submitted my QB app. Me, being the idiot I am, submitted it (with the bad essays.)
I submitted the Commonapp later (before the Jan 1 deadline) so I could have that considered instead. I spent time on the main essay (8 drafts) and the Brown supplements were written pretty well, as I said before. So I email them telling them to disregard the QB app I submitted as that didn’t reflect my efforts in the essays. All they say is that my request will “be noted in my file”.
Does this spell a sure-fire rejection? I don’t know why they didn’t tell me they could remove it immediately but instead told me that they would note it in my file. I am extremely worried.
