I did not get my application out until December 3rd. Does this greatly reduce my chances of getting accepted? I know other kids that got in ER with similar stats of mine and now i'm upset that i didn't get my app in earlier.

You might have... but I doubt it. I think you will just have to wait a lot longer for a response.

No you didn't. Not at all. The only advantage to early response is just that...an early response. you'll just be waiting a tad bit longer but im sure ur fine.

technically no, because the guidelines never change... but since with time they get more applications, it becomes more competitive.

thank you all who replied - i feel a little bit better about the situation and will just hope for the best.

i disagree with the above posts, my friend ad a teacher now teaching in UM told me that UM accept students based on the available spaces they have left. so the later u apply, the better u have to be to get in. but if ur stats r outstanding, im sure u'll still get in.

My S has not applied yet. Is it too late for a relatively strong candidate?

My problem is i sent my application in late ( Dec 3rd) AND i'm not a strong candidate. I have 31 ACT but only a 3.25 UW GPA. (2 honors and 2 AP's). Do you think they will only accept very strong candidates after the ER deadline? I'm worried!

application date should not affect admission decision of a "qualified" candidate. i think MI knows it.

It really does though, even though they claim that early response doesn't give you an advantage over RD, it really does.......I mean if early response did not give you an advantage then why would so many people apply early? Students would just wait and take time to perfect their application essays and etc.

when i visited the admissions office straight up said that the earlier you apply the better chance you have of getting in. He also said that he had never witnessed a person who was accepted from the waitlist who did not apply early
