Did I screw up my application essay?

In my essay to Cornell regarding my academic interests, I wrote something along the lines of: "Already an active member of [name of club] at [an university that is not Cornell], I can't wait to get involved in the clubs at Cornell!" I was trying to seem enthusiastic and, well, active... but I fear they will read it and think, "Well, why doesn't she just go to that university instead?"

The rest of my essay was about my work/volunteer/internship experiences and their relation to my intended major, and all the opportunities Cornell offers. I'm applying to CAS, by the way.

So, did I mess up? :(

If the university you mentioned is one you live near, which is why I assume you are already an active member of a club there, I wouldn’t think it would be a big deal. Especially if you have taken some classes there while in HS.

Yeah it is. I’m just really nervous. Thanks for your reply!

As long as you didn’t say you want to get involved with the other university you’re all good haha
