Did I screw up?

When I was applying to OSU I only applied as an international affairs scholar. I thought at the time it would have been more advantageous for me to be in the scholars program because of the early scheduling, and the fact that my major (public health) doesn’t have too much in common with my other interest, international affairs. At the time, I did not understand that OSU Honors received even earlier class scheduling, and direct admittance to many programs.

So as a “pre-public health” major, who’s looking for research opportunities and who wants classes to be scheduled so I may go on a longer study abroad experience, did I put myself at a disadvantage from the start?

You can apply to the honors college after you are a student at OSU. The website is not clear whether you can do it your freshman year, or if you need to wait until sophomore year.

I think you can apply to be in honors in spring semester of freshman year. IMHO, you put yourself at an advantage, since honors students can’t apply later to be scholars, or atleast that’s my understanding.
