Did I shoot myself in the foot?

I recently got my ACT scores from the June test and they were horrible (22 first time with no studying). I plan on retaking asap to get them up (and I’ll obviously study this time), but I noticed something. My scores were sent to my top picks.

I also got my June SAT, which weren’t too hot either (1470 with no studying), but those weren’t sent thankfully. Will this affect my chances of getting accepted when I apply after I retake the ACT or will they overlook the first score?

Depending on the college, they might only use the highest ACT score you send in the admissions process. What colleges are your “top picks?”

I’d talk to your GC (or whoever manages your apps) and ask them to note this when you re-take it or when you submit your apps. Most colleges just take the highest sitting.

UF, UCF, SSC and Valencia got the scores. I know SSC and Valencia don’t really care for scores since they are community colleges and generally take everyone but I, for some reason, had them down. I plan on applying to UF, UCF and Rollins (long shot) directly but will most likely have to do two years at a CC and then move over to UCF.

As long as you also send your next ACT score to the colleges, you should be fine. I’m not familiar with the colleges you listed so I can’t make any guarantees, but if it’s a problem when the time for application comes, you can always call admissions and ask them to disregard a certain score. You shouldn’t have to do that though.
