So I've heard that to get generous consideration you need to submit your application to Penn State by November 1st. I just submitted my application this weekend.. I know it's before November 1st but not that much time beforehand. Will this greatly effect my chances?? I'm an out of state applicant with a 3.24 GPA and 1820 SAT scores. Hoping to be an accounting major. Oh, and I checked that I would attend the summer session. I also submitted a personal statement and activities list, and am sending a counselor and teacher rec.

My D applied as well. When we visited we were told that all of the applications that arrived before Nov.1 were looked at as one pool. So I imagine that your application will get as much consideration as anyone else that submitted before Nov.1.

You said that you are sending teacher and counselor recommendations. I didn’t think that teacher recs were an option. Did you see somewhere that they could be sent?
Thanks.

During our visit this past summer - the adcom people said that recommendations were not required and that any received (basically) would be shredded.

really?? awesome because I doubt my teacher will even get theirs in on time… but i am sending a counselor rec to every school i’m applying to. So i guess penn state really is just all numbers??? My transcript is being postmarked before nov. 1st but I doubt it will arrive before then… does this still count as “priority?”

My son who is a junior in the honors college applied just before Thanksgving two years ago and we are out of state. This was not a problem for him.
