Did I take a "Gap Year"?

So I have a little bit of situation here. It would be nice if the CC community can understand my situation and answer the following question! :D
I applied to school A for the Fall 2014 Semester last early decision 1 round (So I applied to school A ED 1 Fall 2013). I graduated high school this past May 2014 and had already enrolled into school A and was planning on attending this coming semester Fall 2014. Unfortunately, because of sudden financial situations, I have ultimately decided to not attend this school (I know reallyyy late, but situation prevented me from choosing a wiser decision).

I plan on "restarting" and applying to schools this coming application season Fall 2014 for the academic semester Fall 2015. Am I considered to have taken a "Gap Year" when I am applying to schools this coming application season?
Basically, I have already applied, accepted, enrolled in classes for school A but decided to withdraw very late. So is it possible for me to apply to schools again this coming application season, and under which category (first year student, homeschooled, transfer, etc.)?

Thanks.

(I don't know if it was confusing or not)

You’ll want to double check with other people, but to me, this is a gap year. I applied to colleges the fall of my senior year, and ended up turning all of my acceptances down because of a change in interests. I graduated from high school in June and will be applying to college the fall. I think that a gap before college is considered a “gap year,” regardless of your reasons for taking it.

Of course you can apply again, and you would apply as a freshman. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I would apply as a first year freshman correct? Like school reports, recommendations, etc?

I think we are in the same boat @lamuniv. Hope all goes well for you this time too!

Yep, you would apply as a first-year freshman, so basically the only difference between you and someone applying to college directly during their senior year is that the Common App will ask you for an extra statement/essay about why you took a gap year.

Oh ok. Thanks man
