I’m a rising sophomore and thank to God I landed an “internship” at a law firm. It’s great because I want to be a defense lawyer when I’m older and I got to work with a great attorney. My experience was great and I can’t wait for next summer BUT does my hours reflect this? Since summer started I’ve worked twice a week for 3 hours and I should have just under 50 hours by the time I stop for school. Do you think I should have gotten more?
I don’t think that a 6 hour/week internship is particularly meaningful - did it really give you much of an exposure? Why so limited? Was it your choice, or did you not have the option for more? You are just a rising sophomore, and there is plenty more time to build on this, so I don’t think it’s the end of the world, but it seems a bit odd.
it had to do with my moms work schedule. How much would you recommend for next summer
I understand that logistics can be limiting, and it sounds like your experience gave you a taste and left you wanting more. If you continue it next summer, I’d try for something like 20 hours/week if possible, and 150-200 hours total - enough to really get a feel for it, and show sustained effort.
