Can't remember if I read about its dismantling or not but just curious? I've heard it improved communications between the student body/faculty and was a helpful resource.

When will construction stop; do students find it irritating? Are the students at EU direly competitive? I mean, competitive to the point of ample amounts of cheating; not just any cheating either but like really nicely devised scheming? Do Emory students hate the administration as much as blogged? CCers make it seem like greeks are an overbearing, obnoxious, unwelcome voice on campus, is this true? Are their Emory parties outside of frat row? Do Emory students utilize Emory village at all or just employees and townies?

Any creative writing or philosophy majors? Willing to shed some light?

I guess one question can turn into too many.

Learnlink, still here - personally I just use it to check on class anouncements, but some are addicted to it

When will construction stop; do students find it irritating? It's usually not a problem, temporarily uglies up the area it's in, but nothing major

Are the students at EU direly competitive? students work hard, but definitely nothing cut throat

Do Emory students hate the administration as much as blogged? I've heard of a few complaints, but for the most part the administration really listens to student input

CCers make it seem like greeks are an overbearing, obnoxious, unwelcome voice on campus, is this true? Are their Emory parties outside of frat row? I don't plan on ever joining the greek system, but they seem pretty decent. Freshman generally stay at on-campus frat parties, upperclassmen have more outside parties. Thursday night clubbing is fairly popular too.

Do Emory students utilize Emory village at all or just employees and townies? Emory village isn't anything special. The CVS is convenient and there are a few places to eat, but it's not like Emory students hang out there.

LL is here, hopefully it stays. I love LL. :D

When will construction stop; do students find it irritating?
I'm not sure when it will stop... they're pretty much redoing a whole section to create a "freshmen village" or sorts (from what I hear anyway), and they're building a new bookstore, so who knows how long it'll last. To me it's semi-irritating because I think it really detracts from the campus aesthetics, but I don't hold it against Emory or anything.

Are the students at EU direly competitive?
Not really. Just study a lot and you'll fit right in.

Do Emory students hate the administration as much as blogged?
No. The administration isn't "wow amazing!!!" but it's not terrible either.

CCers make it seem like greeks are an overbearing, obnoxious, unwelcome voice on campus, is this true? Are their Emory parties outside of frat row?
No, I've never really seen Greek life as overbearing or obnoxious. It's something you can choose to participate in or not... if you decide not to you have 2/3 of your class to hang out with, so no biggie. And yes there are Emory parties outside of frat row, but as a freshmen it's just more convenient to go to frat row. As an upperclassmen you'll know people with cars or living in apartments, so you can go clubbing/go to house parties.

Do Emory students utilize Emory village at all or just employees and townies?
Emory village is dying.

Any creative writing or philosophy majors? Willing to shed some light?
I don't really know anything about philosophy majors, but I actually do work-study under one of Creative Writing teachers. I don't exactly know what you want to know, though.

gkc4, is jim grimsley one of the CR teachers you do the work-study with? I'm an admirer of all his work. I'm curious about the rigor of the program and if the teachers are very passionate about their classes. from what i understand most have published work, does that distract them from attention to students etc? Are most professors at Emory busy with research/ personal projects and are the undergrads shown adequate attention?

hmmm, your questions lead so negatively! haha. i agree with the other two emory posters. dunno who made you think that emory was that awful...sheesh

haha don't get me wrong, i love love love EMORY but current students and "reviews" have given me the impression that the student body is unhappy.

read them here: students review.com/GA/EU_comments.html (won't let me link the site, sorry).

Jim Grisley isn't my boss, but he's the Creative Writing program director.

My boss is Bruce Covey, he's very nice and personable and I hear he's an awesome teacher. I looked him up quickly on LL class comments and everyone had good things to say about him.

My impression is that Emory has good professors, most of them will take time to listen to you and help you out during office hours, and will be happy to talk to you. I'm guessing the Creative Writing program is a good way to get to know profs, since it's a smaller environment.
