so anyways, here's my situation. I planned to transfer this fall 2008 as a business major. I met all the deadlines, sent in request forms for transcripts, etc several months ahead. I still have a couple prereq courses to get done for my major, but i'd rather transfer sooner, rather than later. anyways i sent in my request forms back in april or so. apparently the final grades for spring 08 transcript hasnt been sent in or status wasn't updated. the transcript fee check was cashed and they say it was electronically sent. But the university i want to transfer to status was not updated by their july 15th deadline. so which side is to blame here since i sent in everything required, but something wasnt updated along that process. So now I have pressure to transfer now (only option I have is to take their GE classes through open university which is basically $200+ per unit) or take the same classes for a fraction of the amount back at my lousy CC. sorry for the rambling, on, just annoyed how this process went. anyone else had the same issue where their school "lost" their transcript or missed the deadline? Did you petition them or just waited another long semester to transfer? oh yeah, pressure from parents isnt helping either lol.

In a perfect world, these kinds of glitches would never happen. I suppose you could try to figure out who is to blame - but it probably won't change the results. Instead of assigning blame, just know from here on out that the only person who is going to check, double-check, confirm, be the squeaky wheel and assure that forms are in place for anything important in life (college, house loans, IRS forms, investment portfolio management) needs to be you. Trust but verify.

As for how to manage your situation now... it sounds like you can't transfer normally at the moment. Also, double check that the Open University classes will transfer normally once you are official accepted into the college.

Try petitioning (why not?) - and sign up for CC GE classes. See what happens.

I assume you don't need to move to a new town (CC and 4-year are in the same area.) If so, I would stick with the known/cheap "lousy" CC to finish up those GE classes. That's just my thought.

As for pressuring parents - maybe they will pay for the $200 per credit at Open U? If not, then I would ask them to back down. (And again, if you do go to Open U classes, double-triple check that they transfer normally and there are no credit limits or other issues with Open U classes.)

Annika

You have spoken in person to someone at the new school, to show them that your check was cashed and your cc says the transcript was electronically sent? I would think you could get an exception to missing the transcript deadline - if that is all that was missed - on the basis of you or someone from your cc talking to a human being at the new school.

I don't see the issue. So you've got to rush through to make sure your transcripts are processed and you're fully admitted? So do it. Get off the internet and start calling. Check and double check. Send things 2-3 times if you have to.
You have yet to complete the last couple business pre-reqs. You would have had to take the final pre-reqs and Gen Ed before taking your major classes anyway.
