did not finish FAFSA form yet, am i in trouble?

okay, here's the deal. i'm an international student and i am NOT applying for any sort of financial aid. my parents have a lot of money (as some of you may know already ;) ), so i don't really need any loans and such. however, my mom insists that i should be able to try out for some merit scholarships.

i'm not a very strong student, but it'd be nice to still be able to compete for some merit scholarships. since i did not complete the FAFSA form yet, am i still able to do this? i believe i heard most schools have a deadline of march 1st, which was yesterday.

thanks for any input.

Some institutional merit scholarships do not require the FAFSA, others do. It depends on the policy of the schools you are applying to. Some still want the FAFSA, even if it is filed late. Contact the schools and ask what they require for merit aid.

As a rule of thumb, you should always send in what they tell you to when they tell you to :)
