<p>I hope she was lying too. Otherwise, it really wouldn’t make sense. Why encourage some, but not all students to apply for a UCLA merit scholarship (with a Feb. 15 app. due date) if those students haven’t been placed on the shortlist of applicants? They could have easily included the Alumni scholarship on the list of scholarships that could be applied for during the UC application process.</p>
<p>I am going to be optimistic and say that these emails/ calls are UC versions of likely letters.</p>
