my friends have gotten phone calls from williams that they got in...
are they done notifying everyone who got in as early write??
it seems like i did not get in.....o well......
i hear that they already picked every candidate.....is this true??
or are they going to let more people know in april???

i read somewhere that 28% of accepted applicants are notified as early writes. so don't worry. you still have until i believe mid-april.

bump..............

First subtract the 40% of available seats filled ED. Then subtract the 30% or the seats offered to so-called "early writes" (who are, in effect, EA admits.)

Then calculate how many seats are left, and the size of the RD+deferred pool seeking them, and you will see where you stand.

They're going to accept around 1000 people. Around 200 got in ED, and 200 got early writes. That leaves around 600 other acceptance letters. My numbers are probably a little off, but I'd assume at least 500 other acceptances will go out.

They're accepting less than 600.

Its not very clear exactly how many early writes were sent out. The list of admits from last year indicates that roughly 250 students received early-writes. However, the list was sent to us toward the end of april and many folks were listed as "having decided to enroll elsewhere." I would assume that good deal of these students were also early writes.

Nevertheless, there are certainly more Regular RD admits than early write RD admits. I would say you have an excellent shot, Cavalier

I'm still hoping that they're still notifying people for early write and that I'm one of them! I can't wait until April... it seems like a million years away. sigh dunno if I'll get in...

I sure hope so, MikeyD. Unfortunately, I probably won't discover my fate until April 4, due to my family's vacation in Florida...

Don't let it get you down. We suffered through the early write period (without getting one) two years ago, but the RD acceptance arrived in the mail at the end of March. Good luck!

Do you guys think that a 740V680M with 680,670,660 (650 on Writing) SATii's and only 37/468 in my class with a 3.9 weighted GPA (caucasian, with no special hooks, except maybe some good ECs) has a chance at an acceptance packet coem the end of March? I can't help but feel I'm not good enough for Williams, but I SOOO want to go there! Plus, my essay was nothing fantastic... good, but not unique, etc. I already posted a chances thread a while back, so feel free not to respond to this annoying twerp :-P, but my ego is completely shot! My SATII scores are worrying me like crazy.

actually is there a huge difference between like, 1500 and 1450?

not at all. i even read somewhere that b/c of SAT's unreliability, there's actually a 70pt buffer on each side of a combined SAT score before there is any statistically significant difference... that means a 1600 and a 1460 might have the same significance.

tell me about it.. ED deferral then no EW letter. absolutely excruciating
