did not get into english!

omg i did not get into my english class today. This is the only pre-req i have missing now, how much does this lower my chance of admissions??!!

What english class? Your major? Could you take it in the spring?

Chances are that there were a lot of people who did not get into the English class or some other course that is a pre-requisite. The reality is that is taking two or even three years to finish pre-requisites that should be finished in one year if the California higher education system (CCCs, CSUs,UCs) was not so heavily impacted. CCCs should stop calling themselves two year colleges when it usually takes three years to get the required prerequisites done. And it is anachronistic for the CSUs and UCs to refer to themselves as four year colleges when so few students at these schools are actually able to take all the courses they need to graduate in four years.

Probably impacts your admission quite a bit. Your app goes to the bottom of the pile, after all the students who have finished their pre-reqs. I don’t know the exact formulas, but from what I’ve gathered, at many of the UCs, not having the major pre-reqs done is not a good thing.

I agree–with budget cuts and perhaps more to still yet come, CCC-to-UC/CSU transfer often takes 3 years, not 2 years. Not that the kids who are in the UC/CSUs starting as freshmen actually finish in 4 for the most part…so you aren’t as behind as you think.

If you want to go faster, pick a private college or a different state. Sorry, the money (thus class options) isn’t there anymore for the CCCs.

See if you can take that English class at another CCC.

@ noregret

the second english class requirement. my major is econ/ maybe bus at berkeley.

i will have it done by spring for sure but i want it done this fall so they can see it.
