Thanks for pointing that out, ASC (I deleted the post praising her).
Also, I just watched her speech. That article + Her Speech decreased my regard for her.

For fairness sake, here’s lauding by the TIME. I still think that she has great potential for those areas in which she performed, but perhaps it might be best if she’s kept off an executive position.

sorry, but I consider Evolution to be a proven hard science concept and I would NEVER vote for a candidate who was promoting Creationism in public education period, even if it is Mike Huckabee playing Jimmy Hendrix on an electric guitar or a Governor of Alaska who had the guts to stand up to corrupt people in power. If she can’t grasp science or the atom or the human cell, how can she be at the helm of atomic weapons in an atomic age.
I am sad that the Republicans couldn’t field two candidates who can at least do basic personal computing and can grasp evolution and the massive evidence that supports it.
What a sad state of affairs.
Daughter of a military academy top of his class grad here, top gun father…here…with a lifetime of military service in my upbringing. Although I am fine with the concept that middling grades do not define an intellect for a lifetime, I am concerned that McCain was just too close to being evicted and expelled for personality problems as a young man. The distinction of being fifth from the bottom was about more than lack of effort in the classroom.

Faline2, there is stupidity in politics. It will remain. Holding puritan standards - however humble your demand - of integrity and intelligence will not affect the politicians who know that they can get by otherwise.

Nope, liberals and conservatives wont decide this election. Ppl in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Minnesota will, and I think that she has everything to appeal to those ppl. A friendly openess, a harsh critque, and also family. What she displayed was small town values on a big stage and it was heart warming and also politically astute. Like when she connected her oil experience in Alaska to foriegn nations. That was a wise thing to do. Hearing her speak with confidence on foriegn affiars makes her seem like she knows her stuff and she is definitely no Hillary Clinton.

There’s definitely a strong emotional factor at play now. What effect it will have on the election is what scares the left while giving hope to the right! Sounds like it would make great thesis material for a poli/sci-psych major! Or we just can wait for tomorrow’s tracking polls! LOL

Minneapolis isn’t all of Minnesota. They did just elect Pawlenty (albeity barely). We’ve still got 2 months. I think the McCain ticket could even get Minnesota Electoral sweep if there ever was one.

Do you actually have any real arguments, AMom2, or are you only capable of spouting cultural stereotypes as “points”?

Obama is not up by 17 points. Republicans will say anything and everything. First you blast Obama for NOT being up by double-digits. Then you compare him to Michael Dukakis. It’s called consistency. Oh wait, you guys are all Mavericks TM!

PS Republicans think that “Top Gun” is like such the bestest movie ever made.

She changed my mind. I will be giving even more $ to Obama now. I’ll make it up on my investments. If she becomes President the stock market would plummet 20%.

Sort of off topic, but I’m curious as to why people support domestic drilling. Is the “5 year” or “10 year” or “30 year” timeline (depending on what drilling operation) contentious or something? Would you still support drilling even if does take several years for operations to set up? Wouldn’t that time and money better be spent on alternative energy research, which in several years would be advanced enough to be economically efficient?

Actually off shore drilling would have an affect now. The price of gas, like other commodities, is not merely based on supply and demand, but also market perception. When investors and such see that there will be more oil the price will go down.
A specific example of this is when Bush ended the executive ban on off shore drilling, the next day oil went down $15 a barrel.
