Did Regular Decision, now I wish I did Early...

I submitted an application to Northwestern University last night and I did Regular Decision because I didn't want to be accepted and then be forced to attend even if the financial package they offered wasn't what I expected. Now I realize that if that was the case, I could opt out. And Northwestern is my #1 choice.

Is it a big deal that I did Regular Decision? It's a reach school for me, my grades are under the average GPA scores for students there, so I need all the advantages I could get. On the other hand, doing Regular Decision allows me to do exceptional first semester and then send the midyear report to the school and show them that I am for real. I believe I can get over a 4.0 this semester.

Should I be worried about my chances of getting accepted being lowered because of Regular Decision?

Why don’ t you call them and ask if you can upgrade your RD to ED? Can’t hurt to ask.

now I’m not sure if I would have a better chance being accepted if I do ED with a lower GPA or RD after proving that I am capable of getting the grades that are typically needed to get into Northwestern

If you don’t get it or do get in it won’t be because of your decision choice
