You don't need to worry about Writing. By the way, colleges can and will see that 150 point decrease. It's all in the score report, so you're not off the hook.

The Penn person specifically told me that if you get a 200 in math 1 test and 800 on the second one, they only look at the 800. I think I am off the hook.

That's what superscoring is, taking the best score for each section.

And all of the top ranked schools except for a couple exceptions like Yale give equal weight to the writing section.

SAT Scoring Policies from Top Schools | Admission Sync

Actually, according to that list, the only top schools which give it equal weight are Harvard, Penn, Dartmouth, and Stanford. The majority of schools are under the "lesser weight" category, while Yale is in the "no weight" category.

Yale's info session said nothing of the sort. They said slightly lesser, if not equal, weight.

As in, a bad score won't totally kill your chances. A good score will help you.

Meh... I sure hope that superscores will save my day.

March: CR-M-W
780-770-660

So I retook the SAT in June for a better W score, and I think I'll get
740-720-760.

I hope colleges don't mind the drop in CR and M scores... nervous laughter

wow that's amazing.

So rice, duke, brown, boston, pomona, tufts, uva, wash u, and vanderbilt aren't top schools?

Yes, superscoring saved my life. I was trapped in the Cambodian jungle, held captive by drug lords. My family had no idea I was missing, and no one was out there looking for me. My cell phone had no service, I was hungry, ragged, and tired. My captors refused to let me go until I told them were my cache of drugs was. I had no drugs, I was in Cambodia on a photography trip. I knew this was a scenario that could only end in death.

And, then, and then! Out of the blue came a SUPERSCORE, with guns-a-blazing and brimstone coming down! I scarcely knew what to do, so great was my suprise. "Run!" cried the Superscore, unleashing another round of gunfire from his AK-47. So run I did. And I have never seen the elusive Superscore again.

No, seriously. I'll let you know if it saved my life on the 26th.

Don't mock the superscore.

EVER.

It will enact his revenge mercilessly.

You're right. Because of this my scores will be delayed for nearly all enternity. They'll come back, eventually- the day after I get my last college rejection...
