This would be the first time since the lockdown started. Did they have people take it in different rooms with masks on?
I know someone who drove from Northern Virginia to West Virginia to take it.
Yes they ran the ACT today. We had to wear our masks during testing.
My D21 took it today in Lewiston, Idaho. We drove 100 miles to take it, and it was the only site available today in a 200-mile radius of our hometown. Masks were optional; kids socially-distanced in classrooms.
Yes, there was an open site in my neighborhood but some other places in my city did not hold it. Masks were required. In MN.
My D’s ACT was rescheduled to July 25th. We received an email from ACT this week, but I do not see any info about reschedule on ACT. First I thought the email was scam…
My D said some of her friends received the same email so it should be fine. Is there any location rescheduled?
D is so ready for test. so long for waiting… too bad…
Unfortunately, mine was cancelled. However, some of my friends took it at the state next to mine since theirs was not cancelled.
My son took it today in Michigan. More centers than not were canceled, so he got lucky.
Yes, my D21 took it today, also in Michigan. She felt fortunate that her test site was very close to home, so even if she had been canceled unexpectedly, it was a short ride home. Considering taking it one more time in September if she can get a seat. Scheduled for SAT at the end of August. We’ll see what happens . . .
Masks were required and seats were spread apart. She felt there were more rooms than usual due to the social distancing required. She also said that taking the test with a mask on was no big deal.
Yes, I should have added that desks were far apart and he actually had a table, so lots of room. Masks were required. They were in a gym and were able to go outside during their break and take the mask off briefly. He had no issue with the mask.
The only area in the Northeast that I am aware of that had testing was in the Pittsburgh area. Nothing in NY or NJ. It is frustrating that the parts of the country that have no control over the virus are going ahead with this, while in the Northeast, where we sacrificed a great deal to do the right thing and are still paying the price for it - our kids are completely shut out from just being able to take the test.
My D’s ACT was cancelled the day before. Totally ridiculous. We got the go ahead email on 7/15 and I was OCD checking the cancel list every day. Friday morning it showed up. No email!! She has been cancelled. April and June and all of her SAT’s as well. We are in Montco, PA. Why??? What on earth? ACT should be ashamed of themselves.
@CheddarcheeseMN Interesting…we are also MN and no masks required at D21 site. She said probably 5-10% wore masks?
How can I see the cancellation list? I’m trying to plan for a September ACT, live in central CT.
We drove 4 hours each way from upstate NY to Philly so my son could take the @#$%&* ACT. It seems nuts, but he’s been preparing for so long, he just wanted to take it and be done. Fingers crossed. Masks were required and everyone wore them and was very good about social distancing. I heard from a friend in Jacksonville FL, that the test was administered there and masks were not required.
That does seem low because we were told that the ACT organization “recommended” masks. But we are in the Cities where there are mask ordinances and the school required the masks.
@CheddarcheeseMN I see a varied amount of people wearing masks around our suburban area (although sometimes I think I’ve gotten so used to people wearing masks that I have to think about it). A year ago it would have been very unusual to see some one a mask. A couple weeks ago I remember noticing almost everyone at one store wearing masks and less than half at another store on the same day. It made me wonder if certain stores attract a more face mask wearing crowd and what an interesting psychological study that would make.
My son took the test on July 18th. We’re obviously now waiting for scores. I’ve seen where they could be available as early as tomorrow on a prepscholar page
but the ACT site says the earliest will be August 5th.
I’ll try and remember to post here, when he gets his scores, and I’ll check back to see about any others getting theirs.
