Did Umich accepted any International Student yet?

It seems like they deferred every international students today.

I myself got deferred with 3.9 gpa/2130

I know the scores don't guarantee anything, but

all my international friends with similar or higher stats got deferred.

I applied on Nov, and my friend applied on Jan.

But we both got deferred at the same date/same time.

I just think it's a little weird.

Are they going to first accept "Americans"

and then pick us? If that's the case, why bother sending out deferment??

Any thoughts?

Hey,

I don’t really think they ‘discriminate’ against internationals.
From what I heard (not sure its true or not), Americans compete with other Americans while international students compete with other internationals.
I’m an international student from South East Asia, I got my decision yesterday, so yeah, they definitely started giving out decisions. (I applied on 11/16 for LSA)

I received my acceptance letter yesterday (Feb 4th); I’m from Brazil. I also saw a guy from Sweden who was accepted.

My stats are:
2130 SAT
800 Math 2 / 800 Physics
105 TOEFL
92/100 Average Grade (no GPA).

My stats are:
1970 SAT (1390/1600) 640CR 750M 580W
108 TOEFL
70/100 GPA (4/5 in Turkey and it is considered a good grade -unlike it is in U.S. system-
Lots of ECs (national and international project competitions and I have a patent. I also have lot of entrepreneurship experiences)
Great essay, great recommendations

I was deferred at EA. Michigan! Accept me! :D

^Hope you’ll be accepted, fella. We should create an “International Freshmen from UMich” thread and gather together later :)

Hey, I’m sorry to hear about your deferral but I’m an international student who applied for EA and got accepted back in Dec.
