Did you get a call from UCLA???

it sucks because my phone is broken. at least you guys can share in the "oh no haven't gotten a call" or "woo hoo a hot chick called" im here thinking dammit i shouldnt have dropped my phone

donjuan78, what if I take a professional class? Usually those high volume courses are GE, right?

300.....are you joking me?
OMG!

Perhaps it is a sexy, horney japanese girl....who knows.....just hang out with her and get the things you want to know and dump her.....I am so bad.....

you scared me, donjuan78....

=/ i don't see why we must bash UCLA here, on a thread full of people that have hopes and dreams for UCLA. I just had a huge talk with one of my closest friends and she just went on about how UCLA is now just a subpar school with a good name.

I just find it frustrating when I am working hard for a goal and people dismiss it as an easy feat. I understand that there are people out there that are better than me, will always be the case, but I would still like to take pride in accomplishments.

I don't mean to be angry or rude, I just wish we could... ease up, on the anti-UCLA stuff. If you like UCB, then go to UCB. No need to belittle our aspirations in order to raise the prestige of another.

I am glad that I'm hearing this stuff now, instead of all the negative Cal stuff. I just think this talk has a place on another thread, where people discuss the pitfalls of UCLA, instead of people anxious to get in.

go bear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!go Haas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GEISELMAN, R.E. / CLARK, C.T which one listed is the professor for that class?

Nice speech, xleper17 ^o^

hongda- im a Berkeley fan also! hope we get in!go Bears!!!

=) i wasn't trying to be all angry or something. I'm glad that no one got upset....

I hope you are not my rival.....tell me you are not applying to Haas...T.T

then who is CLARK, C.T?

Hey guys. I found a clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the email from a admission officer:

Dear Hongda,

your application has already been reviewed and at this point of the process, a decision is being made at the higher level. Either way, decisions are based on what the students has reported in the application, so the spring term is not taken into consideration until after. At this point, I would just wait to hear from us first ( you should start checking at the end of April) and then use the Spring information if required. Your willingness to provide this information suggests that you are doing very well - I'm glad to hear that.

Please contact me if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

She emailed me at :

be aware of what she said!!
"your application has already been reviewed and at this point of the process, a decision is being made at the higher level." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

right after that we start receiving phone calls. Is that a coincidence?

I am a big Cal's fan too!

donjuan --- yes, but that is the risk I take. I don't like the feeling of UCB and I am not an aggressive person (student, fighter, whatever).

I think you're just being a little harsh. I do take in all the facts and I've been reading what you're saying. I'm just surprised that every single good fact (what we believe to be a good fact) is being shot down by you with one reply after another. It seems a little unnecessary, as it is not the reputation of one UC to another.

I also understand that you're doing it out of intent for us to be knowledgeable and not be wrapped up in the "UCLA!!!" spirit. Same with USC.

People also learn in different ways. As you said before, UCLA is not the school for you. UCB is not the school for me. There is no way I could thrive in that environment (I have been there, finally) and I am completely turned off by passionate arguments and emotional declarations for freedom.

I don't mind being another face or another number. You just learn to go with the herd and I am forced to be more reliant upon myself. It may be an upward climb, but I know myself and I need that sort of challenge.

I also end up being the person to ask the question. I don't care if everyone laughs at me. Chances are, at least 25% are also as confused asme.

I am also sure that there must be other people that feel like I do. I don't have facts to make UCLA a better school. I just have what I know.

Who knows, I may end up going to UCB. I just wish both schools would stand on equal ground for those that have the choice to decide. Then they may make the move for themselves, not just based on what school a bunch of researchers say is "better."

I am feel better now

Hongda, did you email admission first or did they sent you that email on their own?

wu_chun24, I emailed her first. Then she replied right after next day.

I don't mean to cause a row. This is no personal attack on you. However, if you read US News & World Report (published fall 2007), you can see that UCLA is #25 in the nation. It is the 3rd best public school in the US. Given that UCB is first, with U of Virginia 2nd.

From what I understand, this ranking is based on peer assessment, graduation retention rank and average freshman retention rate. Along with SAT, student/faculty ratio, acceptance rate, etc etc.

These sort of reviews, surveys, etc, are all a little off and in no way can they completely encompass the academic prestige of schools.

I have no intention of having a war of facts. I hope you all get into Cal. Just go for your dreams, I guess, lol.

donjuan, can we keep the conversation on topic? The rest of the CC forums are flooded with these types of prestige/quality arguments and we'd like to keep our little UC Transfers nest free of bashing, but drenched in speculation, anxiety, and hope! :)
