Did you get an email after correcting FAFSA?

We submitted corrections Saturday (3 days ago) and we did not get an email confirming it. Did anyone else?

I am a bit concerned because I noticed on the print out of the FAFSA entries it shows our email address with an & after the .net But when I went into the SAR to change the email adress it is correct in there. So I am not sure if we did not get an email because of an error on the email address, or if it is just slow, or if we should not expect one.

We got one last year after the SAR had been updated.

I have a question for you. I am finally ready to fill out the online form. Do I start all over with 2008-2009 or pull up last year's (2007-2008), change that, and submit that for 2008 -2009?

You start of filling the 2008-2009 then when it sees the information (SSN, name, DOB) it will say you have filed before and do you want to use the info from before.

Do not correct and resubmit 2007-2008 - it will not give you an EFC for 2008-2009.

Thank you, you do know I consider you an expert on this fin aid stuff, don't you? I came in here hoping you were around.

Did you get a correction confirmation number when you made changes?

Thanks. :o I spend way to much time trying to understand how it all works and learned a lot from others on CC when i first started. But then I don't get an email when I expect one and I'm like - aah - help me!

Yes I got a confirmation number. Printed everything off. The SAR online is corrected. Just no email.

I must have screwed up, I was not asked if I wanted it to bring info forward.

That's odd. That is what happened when I did it. Are you sure you entered everything correctly?

At this point I am not sure of anything. Then the power blinked and I lost the page. Just shoot me now.

I just started over and this time it asked if I wanted to "prefill."

I am glad you asked this question. I was just wondering the same thing! I did get a confirmation, which I printed off. If I don't get anything in the next week or so, I might call a school and see if they got a correction. I didn't have to make corrections last year, so I don't know how long it takes to get a confirmation (if at all).

Thanks Kelsmom - I feel better knowing it is not just me. We are being verified and the tax forms tie in with the new figures so if the school has not got the corrections I am sure I will be hearing from them!

swimcatsmom,

I just corrected my earlier estimated FAFSA with the actual numbers now that I have all the documents I needed. I don't think you need to worry about that "&" -- somewhere on the summary/confirmation pages you see at the end before you "submit" it says that "&" is just a symbol to signify that you confirmed your previously entered information.

I only submitted the corrected one tonight, but I wouldn't necessarily expect to get an email. I didn't when I submitted the first estimated one, but I did get, at the end of the submission process both times, a confrimation page with my EFC on it. It suggests you print out that page, which I did. I think that's the whole thing... that's it.

But this is my first year doing it, so what do I know??? ;)

Thank you 'rent. I did not read the bit about the &. I did print out the page fortunately. But now I just realized I made another mistake so I need to correct again.

You probably took the time to actually read what you were doing because you are a first timer that's why you spotted the '&' thing. I was merrily thinking I knew what I was doing and missed it. Panic over.

i don't think i got an e-mail submission after i submitted my corrections form either...

I didn't get an email after corrections either. But you can go into the site and see the processed corrections. The correction was processed, so says the site, the same day. You can find it on "Check Status of Submitted FAFSA." Fill out the form, and below that is a spot where you can view, print, and save the processed form. It is a wandering path, as usual, but it is there. I was thinking about the "&" sign too. Thanks for the info!
