Yes, my dream school is California Institute of Technology.

Fall quarter hasn’t started yet, but I’ve already spent a few nights in the dorms there during spring break. It’s great. Caltech was the one school I thought I wouldn’t get into, and it turned out to be the only top tier school I got into. irony.

Yes. Kind of. I applied ED to Penn and got in, but if I thought I had a chance at Stanford, I would have applied in a heartbeat. Stanford doesn’t like my HS…In the end, it doesn’t really matter to me; I’m not looking to be a PhD or anything, so any top school works and Penn is awesome.

yes I did. I applied to Columbia SEAS early decision(wanted to go there since 8th grade) and got in. I wish everybody could get into their dream school, unfortunately that can’t happen.

I was rejected from what I thought was my dream school (I’d only been seriously looking at colleges out of my state for half a year though), then accepted to another school. I have visited both, and honestly believe that I’m going to a school that, for me, will be better. Though financially, probably not, but $ isn’t much of a factor in deciding whether something is a “dream” school or not. So I guess you could say I’ll be going to a school that’s better than my dreams (were).

I can agree with you about Mets fans, they are the most obnoxious fans in the world (aside from maybe Duke Basketball fans and Red Sox fans), but Yankees fans are the class of the sporting world :)

To be honest, I used to tell myself that I really didn’t want to go there so that if I was rejected I wouldn’t feel too bad. Instead, I told myself that University of Toronto was my dream school since I knew I was going to get in (I was aiming for one of the 2 full scholarships for internationals that they have… didn’t get it so I couldn’t have gone anyway because of finances! lol). But deep down I knew that Stanford was the place for me and thankfully I got in. I won’t get there until next week so I can’t talk from experience but I’m pretty sure I’ll thoroughly enjoy it.

That being said, even if you don’t think you’d get into your dream school… still apply! Had I not applied because I didn’t think I would’ve been accepted… I would’ve been off to some other university that I didn’t really want to go to… The only sure way to not get accepted is by not applying.

of course i was the same way haha! exactly the same. i just convinced myself that id be rejected from hyps (and all my other reaches) and that id be happy at the other schools i applied to.

I did…but I ended up going somewhere else. My dream school ended up not being my dream school. I found a school with a better program, closer to home and all that…and I’m there and loving it.

Yeah, made it to my top choice but…for personal reasons i’m a little depressed and haven’t really left my dorm or socialized at all. The school seems to be great just wish I was able to enjoy it.

My dream school for a while was UC Davis because my grandpa used to work there. Well I got accepted, but after I went and looked at some more colleges and ended up liking UC San Diego more, which I got into also, and that’s where I’ll be going.
