Did you guys list all the schools you are applying to?

CONFUSED
I guess I’m going to list several schools
not gonna lie though …

I put most of them but not all…only put one of my reach schools.
I think it’s an unfair question so honestly, I don’t feel bad about not giving full disclosure.

i listed most of them…but i “conveniently forgot” some of them as i was filling out the application…oh well xD

I heard that it doesn’t affect your decision at all, it’s just for their records.

If you have a truthful and convincing “Why BU?” essay, then I don’t see why you should be worried.

I wasn’t so worried about it, just a little weird since my other colleges didn’t ask it

I figured if they thought BU was on the high end of my application pool then I have a better chance. So with that being said I just listed 8 targets and safeties, and “forgot” to mention any of my reaches.

same here
I put some of my safty schools so that they will think BU is my reach :D

I left it blank. It wasn’t a required question, and I think that they have no right to know. In fact, I think it’s quite rude to ask that on an application.

i put all my reach schools so they will offer me a scholarship

yeah i didn’t really even think about leaving some out. so i put all of them in there, even my reach schools…maybe that was a bad idea?

Completely agree w/ Titan.
I left it blank (as I did for George Washington). I think it’s none of Boston’s business where else I’m applying because they should assess me for Boston University and not care where else I applied! If anything, I thought, maybe they’ll think this was the only place I applied, and “Oh **** if he doesn’t get in he’s going to community college” lol.

I heard that those type of questions are to see whether or not you are on that schools “level”. For example, if I was to apply to BU, Harvard and Yale…they would think that I would only go to BU if I was rejected from Harvard or Yale because those schools are ivy-league. I think thats why they ask the “why BU” question, so they can see if thats the case.

I only listed all my schools in MA. I hope they won’t reject me though because the schools I listed were still pretty good (Harvard, Tufts, BC, UMass Amherst).

I put all of my schools; I don’t think it really affects you it all depends on your interest in the school. I wish you guys luck! Class of 09 ROCKS!

I didn’t list any of my schools on it. I was worried BU might think it’s a safety school on my list and not want to admit me because they didnt think I was truly interested. I dont see how this question can help the application and it’s optional.
GWU did something like this in the interview too. I think the schools want to gauge what the chances of an admitted student attending are but they can’t hold not answering an optional question against you i dont think.

I didn’t list any…

:( I listed all of mine. Maybe I shouldn’t have?

I decided against listing the schools I was applying to, safety, reach or target. I can’t fathom a valid reason for them wanting that information. It really isn’t any of their business and I can’t see how answering that question would help me in any way. What I imagine is that the admissions officers will know I put BU as a safety and if I get accepted into a school that I really want to go to they’d reject me. I didn’t bother to lie or “conveniently forget” any schools either. I figure they should know people won’t be completely truthful with that question anyway.
