Brown doesn’t have a “Why Brown?” essay, and I’ve heard people tell me that you shouldn’t just re-use your common app essay. But I kinda like my common app essay, and I feel as if it represents me as an applicant well. Should I add some references to Brown in the essay? Or leave it as is?

Oh yeah, but that's not a long essay. You're right though.
Hmm, so since I've already addressed why I want to attend Brown in that short essay, is there a big problem with just using my common app essay?

I used the common app essay, and it has nothing to do with Brown. Don't try to force in any references to Brown; it will probably end up sounding awkward and unnatural, unless Brown was a significant part of your essay in the first place. If you want your essay to reflect that you would be a kind of person who would thrive at Brown (without mentioning the name Brown), though, that's fine.
