Did you see those Uchicago's prompts?

How could you that creative....?
i am kind of worried about my essays now after i saw those prompts....

actually from what i understand those are normal for chicago

plus the h'elade one is not that hard at all

I didn't think this year's essays were at all up to Chicago's usual standards, actually. Compared to the giant mustard and teleportation essays of when I applied, this year's prompts stink. Maybe I'm just bitter because they rejected my essay suggestions. :p

Your essay doesn't have to be brilliant; as long as it reflects your (quirky) personality, you're ok. Writing your Chicago essay should be fun.

I like the mathematical function question. I feel like the other three are just creative ways of asking old questions. And I definitely agree that last year's topics were much much better.

I like warbler's advice. Have fun with these! Don't worry--just be yourself. You're not expected to write a literary or analytical masterpiece! The prompts just ensure that the admissions office doesn't get a bunch of cheesy, formulaic essays about who your role model is or what one of the defining experiences of your life was or something boring like that.
