did you send something extra to pomona?

I applied SCEA to stanford and have since had it ingrained in my mind to not send extra things to colleges and because of this did not send extra stuff to most of my colleges. did most people send something extra to pomona? i've been reading about people sending tons of stuff about their accomplishments, etc. i am super involved in my school newspaper and didn't even send them a copy... wish i did!

i sent them a CD recording of my piano playing, a letter of recommendation from my piano teacher (part of the music supplement), my r

I sent a portfolio of my photography, a supplemental recommendation from my photography teacher, a controversial editorial I wrote for the school newspaper because my guidance counselor talked about it in her recommendation, and a short excerpt from the novel I wrote this summer… haha, the poor admissions people at all of my schools must have been banging their heads on the table, there was so much! But I felt like all of it was important, so…

Just an extra rec. from a film director that I interned for this summer

The only thing extra I sent was my college transcript. I took some college class over the summer and during school for the past few years.

The art supplement and the music supplement. And something else. Yup! :)

lol, i dont mean to sound insulting but if you had to send an additional essay to “show your personality” then there must be a problem here!

well it wasn’t to show my personality exactly, but rather a distinct aspect of who I am that was out of the scope of my supplement essay as it would have seemed somewhat incongruous (the extra essay basically encompassed my experience coming out as gay)

Anybody do the cliche sending of cookies and fruit baskets?

oh, i see. Then the extra essay wasnt to “show your personality,” it was just to show who you are as a person. For a second, i thought you were a nerd with a 4.0 and had no life or something.

I didn’t send anything extra and I got in EDII. So I don’t think you need to send anything in. The application alone should be able to reflect what kind of student and person you are. But if you have extra, it never hurts. But don’t worry about not sending anything extra in.

Thanks for the anecdotes everyone. And that is good to hear ngladysn! I realized that i filled out one of the athletic supplement cards… maybe that will help lol. i think the rest of my application should have been adequate though. the extra supplement essay will either make or break my app so i guess we will see!! that was definitely the essay i had the most fun writing out of all of my apps [i did the one about fun]

i sent an art supplement, and this is embarassing but i sent in my poster from my presidential campaign (it was funny!)

For a music major, a paper application might not showcase his/her abilities and talent as much as a professional recording could.

Hey, just to add: I got in ED2 with no additional supplements. Good luck to everyone!
