Just a general question out there. Did anybody write anything for the Additional Information section of the common app? One of the people I talked to throughout my application process (she went to Yale and her child does now too) recommended that I fill out the section elaborating a bit more on my awards/clubs, since there isn't much room on the actual common app.

Did anybody else do this?

Still curious as to what others did…

i had a LOT in my additional info. most other kids ive talked to at my school applying to HYP have at least ~400 words in the additional info, since it’s basically impossible to fit everything in the normal common app.

@artisticgirl97 Thanks! I actually put just under 400 words in there, but wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one. I didn’t want to be “that one kid” who “wastes” the time of the adcom with the additional information section. Nice to hear that this is a think standard for applications.

I used the additional information section to elaborate on the extracurriculars in which I am most involved. I used about 250 words to list and describe all of the musical ensembles in which I play double bass, as well as my solo and orchestral awards. I think that I also described some of my activities within other extracurriculars with another 100 or so words.

hmm didn’t write anything in the additional information section. hit everything i wanted to in my “why yale,” common app, and supplemental essays, though.

I’m not a Yale EA applicant, but in the additional info section I wrote that 2 of my supporting documents would be mailed in (a teacher recommendation and my first-quarter grades).

My own supplements were extremely long (3 pages PDF) and I though the activities section of the Common App conveyed what I needed to say. I didn’t want my App to be overly long.
