2 months ago, right before I started my sophomore year, my parents bought me a new 2009 fully-loaded Nissan Altima Hybrid.

Am I spoiled or is that normal?

2 months ago, right before I started my sophomore year, my parents bought me a new 2009 fully-loaded Nissan Altima Hybrid.

Am I spoiled or is that normal?

aha yea it’s normal for your parents to buy you a brand new car when you’re in college…**** off you know you’re spoiled

No, in no way is that normal.

I got a brand new Altima for my 17th birthday.

Dude… http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/791078-did-you-buy-your-kid-new-car-college.html

Really now? Are you that desperate for the approval or admiration of random people on the internet?

I don’t think there is anything too unusual about it. All of my friends got new cars either in high school or before they went to college. Personally I got a new car when I was 16, and traded it in for a different one the year before I went to college. Most people I knew did something similar.

I wouldn’t go around bragging about your Japanese mid-level hybrid…my roommate got an m3 for college (new and pretty heavily loaded on options)

Unusual amongst upper-class teenagers? maybe not. Unusual in general, yes, very much so.

Ah to be upper-class and white. I could only dream.

Honestly I think if your parents can pay for you to get a college education, you should never complain… about anything… ever.

Exactly…the fact that you would even begin to think that getting a brand new car from your parents is normal says that you’ve got some issues with reality.

Yeah, I agree w/Awped. Your car is a piece of crap compared with some I’ve seen. There’s a guy at my (community) college who drives a brand new Cadillac. And he’s hot. So don’t think you’re anything special. :P

Not to mention if I heard that my parents bought me an brand new Altima I would probably cry thinking of the other cars I could have bought used with that money. But hey lets not be mean.

Its normal

thats a crap car

I’m seriously wondering what you expected us to say when you wrote your thread…

My parents bought me a 97 honda for my 16th birthday. I got tons of use out of that car.

I recently bought a 2008 bmw 3 series for my 21st. It was out of my own pocket though.

yeah, i’m sorry your parents chose that car. not very good reviews, and not impressive here on CC.

Vehicle…nice choice…could quite possibly be my first car.

this is basically all you need to read

My dad let me borrow his new ford focus to get to class. Among my friends, I was spoiled.

my parents haven’t given me a cent for non necessities since I was 15. When I go grocery shopping I need to walk 3 miles each way and carry the food back in bags.
