Did your Penn interviewer ask for your SAT scores?

Did he/she? What questions did you trip up on?

He didn't ask me about my SAT scores. The kinds of questions I had no idea about were ones like "Why weren't you closer to your grandfather?" and "Why would you ever want to help them?" refering to the fact that I might want to by a psychologist in a Spanish speaking area of the US so people can get help in their native language. Oh, and when he asked why I'd go to college if I were already rich and famous, I wasn't sure what to say either...

"What do you want to tell the admissions committee that they dont already know?"

...considering I've already flooded them with a plethora of materials....i kind of drew a blank

yes, he asked. bugger

how 'bout...why should we take you? (idk, just wasnt expecting it)

you're a polisci major? why havent you worked on a campaign? (***)

I see you have done this EC - - why didn't you apply to Wharton?

No, they didn't ask for SAT scores.

Mine asked rapid-fire questions. He went like "Hi Waleed... I'll first ask you something and then its ur turn"

Why should we select you?
Why arent you applying to a university thats more renowned for engineering?
How as an international environmnet benefitted you?
How would you see yourself 5 years from now?
How would you see yourself 10 years from now?
What would you change in the world?
How would you describe your friends? How would your friends describe you?

IT WAS CRAZY!!!

I applied regular decision and still haven't been set up with an interview. How does that system work?

hahaha .. waleed mind sharing ur answers too.... seems interesting...though

SM

hey waleed, where do u live?!

lahore, pakistan

My answers were pretty lame! hehe
ok this is what i said
Why should we select you?
I have lived in different countries and have always risen to the top of my class. I think the fact that enjoy almost every academic discipline will allow me to take up a multidimensional approach to engineering and hence do research that will have a mutual benefit to penn and me.
Why arent you applying to a university thats more renowned for engineering?
Penn is what people call an academic powerhouse. I am more interesting in developing a general academic maturity that will allow me to reach a new level of understanding of the world we inhibit. Penn's engineering is pretty strong but its other schools are ranked as one of the best in the country - this will allow me to become a leader in whatever field i choose.
How as an international environmnet benefitted you?
I basically repeated what i said for the first quesiton. + the fact that i respect what other believe and can easily adapt to whatever environment you put me in. Penn has a diverse community and i feel most comfortable in such an environment.
How would you see yourself 5 years from now?
Working in an organisation at the management position (ive applied for M&T) while at the same time carrying out breakthrough reasearch.
How would you see yourself 10 years from now?
Create my own enterprise that will carry out breakthrough research.
What would you change in the world?
The fact that society tends to "catagorise" people. If you possess certain traits, the world automatically makes an assumption of the type of person you are. Pakistani + religious --> tALiban!

How would you describe your friends? How would your friends describe you?
this was some thing like "loyal, good listener n ****"

by the way what this whole thing doesnt include is stammering, shuddering, looking in thin air, and much more! lol
but i answered all the questions instantly which might go to my advantages.
And to really suck up, i even sent him a "thank you" note as soon as i reached home! hehe

I just had my interview maybe 4 minutes and 28 seconds ago, and I HOPE it went well. The guy was unbelievably interesting- no honestly. But the interview was weird. Instead of him asking me questions, He wanted me to ask him questions. This almost tossed me for a loop. I was completely unprepaired for that, but I kept my composure and everything went descent, i think.

Here's a Q:
I didn't ask for an interview. My interviewer called me yesterday and said that he'll be at my school and that he will interview me as soon as I got out of school. Did this happen to anyone else?

hey waleed, i'm from lahore, pakistan too. i haven't yet been contacted for an interview :( can u pls tell me when u had ur interview and how they contacted u (phone, email or post)? thankss.
it couldn't possibly be good that others have been contacted and i haven't, could it?

I haven't received information about an interview yet. I live in metro Atlanta, so I know there are alumni around. What should I do? Just forget about it and hope they'll call?

I just had my interview yesterday, and was contacted last week. She didnt ask me for my scores.

i have an interview this weekend. can you guys help me out a little in preparing me? what questions should i be expecting and how am i suppose to answer them - Wharton? truthfully.. i don't know why i WANT to study business. i've just always have. the excitement, the tentalizing prosepectives. ::shrug:: why wharton? because it's the best?... help! i don't want to make a fool out of myself

Some of the common questions include questions about why u want to attend the school and to answer this question, its best that you do a little research on wharton (read the president's message, mission statement etc) to see what makes wharton unique (firstly, its the only ivy with a business undergrad etc.. and the brand name, etc)... you should also be prepared to discuss your interests in detail and make sure you have a 'list' of your interests in mind .... you could also prepare to discuss isssues you yourself feel strongly about..... and ofcourse, do prepare some questions you have about wharton. Best of Luck!!

thank you! that was quite helpful =) any more suggestions&tips?

ones that tripped me up a bit:

how would your friends describe you?
why didnt you apply ED?
What do you want to tell the admissions committee that they dont already know?

... what DON'T they know? i feel like i've put all i'm worth into my application, what can i provide?

"ma'am, i'm nice. did you know that? accept me!"
