So I got in to UCSD for next fall as a transfer.I was just wondering by what time do I need to finish the classes on assist.org (the preparatory classes) for my major (Psychology B.A). I still have 6 out of the 8 classes. Yeah seems like a lot but for the past year Ive been focusing on taking all the required classes for SDSU just in case UCSD wouldn't happen.

So can anyone tell me if you HAVE to finish the classes within the first year as a transfer or is it just recommended? Im really just scared because I feel like the classes may get full realllllllly fast next year and I wont be able to get into all of them by the end of the year. Can anyone please let me know? I cant seem to find a time line anywhere online.

I believe the UCs only give transfer students two years to finish all of their requirements for their BA. I know that UC Berkeley is very strict about this and if a transfer student has not finished their degree requirements after two years, their enrollment is canceled and they must leave without getting their degree.

U mean all requirements as in all upper division classes as well?? Omg I dont think I would be able to finish all of those within 2 years. Thats like 18-20 classes for me

It says “Many students who complete 2 full years of transferable coursework at a community college can graduate 2 years after transferring to UC, but the average is 2.9 years.”

So I dont think Im going to have to finish within 2 years…I hope…

How it actually works is that you have a 240 unit cap (for engineering majors) and 200 unit cap (for non-engineering majors) to finish your degree, if you have IGETC and your pre-reqs done, the most they give you at UCSD is 105 quarter units (105 or 90, i can’t rememeber), so you have ~105 units to complete your degree. All my buddies who transferred to cal stayed 3 years, and they were in the capped majors and in the highly impacted school of engineering;

look under: Maximum Unit Limitation [En 11/27/90]

i don’t know why the link says masters of fine arts but if you read the title on the website it says “REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BACHELOR’S DEGREE AT SAN DIEGO”
