Didn't Get in the first time-always can transfer.

Well I didnt get in :'( - and now Im on the dreaded waitlist. With chances looking bleak at best, I'm going to assume I wont be offered admission. I know Dean J stated earlier don't go to a college with only thoughts of the next transfer date in mind, but I think my other option stinks so I think Im going to do it (paying 45,000 to go to another school in VA, take a guess which one).
My questions are:
How does UVA look at SAT I and II when transfering.
How does UVA look at which school the applicant goes to, VA public vs Private
Dean J, if you could please answer these questions that would be AMAZING.

My guess is University of Richmond, which is a spectacular school and a beautiful campus.

It would be if it weren’t the 2nd most expensive college in the US. I mean dont get me wrong, I dont dislike Richmond, actually i think its a great school, but its just the issue of 45,000 a year that kinda stings…

why didn’t you apply to other in states? Mary Washington, George Mason, JMU, W and M…surely you would have gotten in somewhere.

Maybe I should clarify…I think it’s fine to go to one school with intentions to transfer to another after a year or two. However, I’d hate for you to shy away from investing yourself in your chosen school. Even if you plan on leaving, join clubs, make friends, get to know your professors.

If you are transferring after one year, we will have to look pretty heavily at your high school work, including your testing. After two years at another school, we have much more to go on and the work you’ve done in college will be the bigger factor.

We definitely adjust our read based on the college you’re attending, just as we adjust based on a high school’s grading system and curricular offerings.

If the cost of your other choices is daunting, consider a [Virginia Community College](http://vccs.edu/). As you probably know, we have a [guaranteed admission agreement](http://www.vccs.edu/Students/Transfer/tabid/106/Default.aspx) with them. If you follow the agreement, you are 100% certain of being admitted to UVa as a transfer.

To answer jtm4499 question, I did apply to all the other VA pub schools. I was accepted into UMW honors, GMU honors, JMU honors, and Vtech honors. (Still waiting on W&M. I don’t live at my mailing address so I don’t know if anything has come yet). But those aside, none of them have strong B-schools except W&M, which I didn’t like at all when I visited because everyone seemed so depressed) The only other school I liked was U of R, which is ranked top 20 B-school, and who offered my admission into their honors law program.(I didn’t know I was interested in law…). But its GIANT downside is the price tag. 45000.00. Oh and both my brother and sister go to UVA (Law school and other getting PHD) , and every time I visit them life seems like a blast.(Not in the sense of parties, but in general wellbeing and happiness.
