Ok, so UT Austin was my first choice school, and basically, I took it up the rear by Texas's top 10% rule for going to a competitive private school. What they offered me was participation in their CAP program, where I go to another school nin the UT system, get a 3.2 GPA, and I get in UT Austin in spring 2007 no questions asked. I don't know what to do. Here's the other schools I've been accepted to. (Right now Im leaning toward being a journalist as my career.)

UT San Antonio/Tyler/Arlington

Pros: Affordable, guarantee admission to UT Austin after 1 year. I can even choose a CAP roommate that could later room with me at UT Austin, and we could commute together to UT Austin events

Cons: Crappy schools compared to my other choices, not the way I was envisiong spending my first year away

Texas Christian University (ranked 78 by Newsweek):

Pros: Im in at the Honors College, which means I can live in an honors dorm, register first for classes, meet other intellectuals, etc

Cons: Fort Worth is 45 mins from my house, and I never looked that much into TCU during the app process. Plus, it and Baylor are my most expensive choices. TCU will be about 20,000 for me before FAFSA loans, but the 8000 break Im getting is not subtracted from my EFC, rather, its taken of the other end. My family;s not that wealthy, so this is an obstacle to say the least

Baylor University (ranked 81 by Newsweek):

Pros: I'm in at the extremely selective Honors Program (average SAT is 1370), menaing I can live in an honors dorm, register for classes first, meet other intellectuals, etc. Plus, my best friend from HS is going there as other a good number of either people from my school

Cons: Waco the town sucks. I dont have a car, meaning no constant weekend trips to Dallas. Alsoi, Ive gone to a small private school for 13 years, and Im afraid going to baylor wouldnt be branching out, it'd just be like an extension of my HS. Same cons as TCU in the price aspect.

Texas A&M (ranked 60 by Newsweek):

Pros: I got my first choice engineering school, which is no small feat. A%M's the most prestigious school of the bunch, especially as far as engineering goes. The people at A&M are all so nice and courteous and all embody Southern Hospitality. And they realy know how to have a good time and show support for their school. Also, my other really good friend may be going there, but Im assuming he got rejected since my ohone hasnt rang, and almost all decisions are in by now. Cheapest in state option foe mr, about equal in cost to my CAP program options

Cons: I've been struggling Calculus lately, dont know how much I like math. Know I'm not a big science guy. The only reason I really applied for engineering here and journalism everywhere else is become A&M axed their journalism program and is just starting irt back up in a couple years. Plus, I just kind of wanted to test the waters. Secondly, whether this is a legitimate, rational reason or not, I;ve always been taught to hate A&M, as a fan of UT sports. :P

Oklahoma:

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: didnt look at it that much, dont really know about living in Oklahoma

Oklahoma State University

Pros: Very inexpensive sinc ei have a full non resident tuition waiver. They have a sports journalism major, which is rare, and is something Im interested

Cons: The city of stillwater is a little blah, plus its 7 hours from home w/o much traffic, by far the furthest of any of my choices. Not something I wnat at least my first year away.

So there it is, decisions, decisions. What should I do?
