Most people in my school got their letters already, but i still haven't heard. Anyone out there in the same situation?? What could this mean?

I know. im out of state, and my app has been completed since mid jan. my question is: if we havent heard anything from them yet, should we assume that we have been rejected?

I heard from them like 3 weeks after applying. I would say something is very screwed up if you don't know yet and I'd try calling.

alot of my friends still havent heard. I'm guessing you'll hear with the rest of the us deferred applicants.

It wouldn't hurt to call to see if something is holding up your application.

ok, i'll try calling if i don't hear in two days. thanks guys

dfleish is wrong, it doesn't necessarily mean something is "screwed up." You'll notice that there are a steady stream of threads asking this same question throughout the winter and spring. The answer's always the same:

U-M makes faster decisions on some candidates. Depends on school you applied to, residency, AND what your app was evaluated as (High Admit, Admit, etc.) A student who was judged "High Admit" is going to hear faster than other students. U-M knows those students would be admitted no matter what the overall app situation ends up being.

It's the other students they have to admit a bit at a time, until they get an idea how many apps there are, what yield is starting to look like, and so on. Earlier applicants will hear sooner, too.

Decision letters for the larger schools go out at the end of the week, so I doubt anything would happen in the next two days. Over the weekend, maybe.

i've heard from every single college except for stanford and mich. stanford i'm not expecting an acceptance from, it was a significant reach for me. but mich i'm worried about. i sent my application in mid-NOVEMBER, but they emailed me around february saying my teacher recc was missing, so i got that faxed to them before march. everyone at my school has heard except for me. i guess i can assume i've been deferred/rejected (most likely rejected).

if i do get a rejection... well, muck fichigan. hahhaha.

So we shouldn't call or do anything, until the end of next week?

im wondering the same thing. I consider myself a typical out-of-state applicant for UMAA, and I applied on jan. 3rd. I have not received anything in the mail, though i did receive an e-mail confirming completion of my application. My online status still says "application is complete" so i take it ill probably have to wait til the 15th. At this point I'm losing hope for UMAA and am starting to see myself attending UIUC.
