Didn't know my PI personally, asking for a LOR

<p>So I have been doing research in a lab where it was mostly ran by the graduate students with the PI coming in and out of the lab a lot of the time. I became close to the graduate students who I've spent countless hours with but never really had a chance to get to know the PI himself. He has agreed to write me a letter of recommendation but did I make a mistake by not getting to know him? He is a particularly busy professor that has multiple labs so I feel as though he never really had the time to just sit and observe me. </p>

<p>Happens all the time. Collect his letter, get into grad school, and continue on with your life.</p>

<p>In grad school for your thesis lab, choose a younger PI who has more time to spend with you (if that’s what you’re looking for).</p>
