My Debate Team interview went horribly, so this was kind of expected. However, I didn't imagine how significant of an impact it would have on me.

I tried to look upon this event from a nihilistic point of view (utilizing the value inherent in a short-story written by Satre which I had finished the night before). However, I ultimately failed to maintain this perspective, and shortly thereafter, I began to analyze the situation according to my own frame of existence (which, although it is irrational, satisfies this lingering...bitterness...in some bizare, inexplicable way).

Now, I am convinced that, because of this rejection, I will not make it in to Exeter, Andover, St. Paul's, etc. because I possess an insufficient amount of ECs (at this point, I have close to none, but I will, however, be racking up on service hours while working in a Pathology lab this summer). Therefore, I will not be able to make it into one of the colleges I wish to attend, which, in turn, means I won't be able to get the job I really want. Without the job I want, I won't be able to fulfill the goals in life that really matter, and when I am old, I will realize that the life I have led is meaningless (although it could be argued that all life is meaningless, I am analyzing this from my own frame of existence).

Is there any hope left in a sad, miserable case like mine? I'd appreciate any support.

You're a freshman?? I didn't do anything at all freshman year and I'm doing alright now. Don't worry about it. No one thing will ever bring you down. If you are meant to be somewhere, you will be there. Same argument applies for going to public vs. selective private schools..

lol i didn't do jacksht in my freshman year too! i only did soccer haha
why don't you try other activies and see what your good/happy at/with?

If you like debating.. try to find compititions out of school to do with debating.
If you like speaking in front of an audience, why not drama? It could be fate.. that you were meant to be dropped from debating and had to move on to drama.. than become an actor/actress!!

what about the Model United Nations thing? That involves discussion about some environmental stuff going around in the world i think.

Or you can try something wayy different like soccer! It might be that special secret talent you own!
Don't worry.. You have so much time in front. i wish i could go back to freshman year.

wow,man oh man, I just had a lettermen/women sweater interview and i feel the same, boy i felt as though man this isn't going to work, all my varsity sports weren't good at all and I contridicted myself way too much, which I shouldn't have, but I did, I was traumatized, since it was so short and one of them kept going at me, she doens't like me so whatever.... lol, just enjoy frosh year, it's so easy god! just getover it, do it next year ur a frosh! well yeah find another club, student government, drama, plays, anything !
