Didn't take ACT writing section

I took the ACT in September on a whim as I felt I wouldn't do much better on ACT than I would SAT. Because of this I decided to not take the writing section. I ended up scoring a 30 on the ACT with 0 preparation vs a 1940 super on my SAT (taken 2 times).

I am retaking the ACT this month with the writing section but I am scared that I will score lower overall. Would I be able to submit my ACT non-writing and my ACT writing for a superscore and/or would they take the writing score from the second and the overall from the first?

Writing is required to determine the student’s overall ability of the English language. It is not as heavily factored into the Standardized test scores as other multiple choice sections. However it is still required.

If you got a 30 without studying, be confident that you will receive a higher score this time.

your writing score doesn’t change your composite score.

Do the places that you are applying to even require a writing score? Find that out. You might not need that section of the test at all.

Unfortunately they do which is why I am retaking it.
