i really hate how i'm not allowed to take 7 Ap's. i only have 4 aps 2 honors even though that honor class is AP level! i have to take religion and all that cr^p to fulfill graduation requirement(i transferred).

i know that most people take 5 aps their senior year. i have no idea how my workload will be looked upon by colleges!

If u took the heaviest load i'm assuming the adcoms will look at it favorably. That i mean school's toughest load.
YOu're lucky. I have like only 3 APs and one post AP course because of my english prereqs. But i wonder would it look strong the fact that i took APUSH last year with ESL and got As in both?

I transferred after my junior year. So, at my old school, I took the heaviest load. But here, my load(cumulative) is not considered heaviest. My number of AP's are the max here, but there are lots of honors that I couldn't take(because my old school didn't offer them!!!). SO I have no idea what my counselor put: most demanding or very demainding. I definitely deserve most demanding.

I feel crushed.

whoa ur taking both esl and ap classes? that's impressive. though i don't know why u'd ever be in an esl class if u could handle the ap load.

hideANDseek, i had the same problem. my counselor was like "well you didn't take Honors World History, so i'm not sure if your load was most demanding." i just sat there stunned b/c Honors world history wasn't even offered at my old school.

What?! That's only one honors class! If you took everything else, you would definitely deserive a most demanding mark!

In fact, I'm going to ask my counselor what she put, otherwise I'll feel really insecure. If she put "very demanding", I'll go to my old school's counselor(she knew how hard I worked to get these classes).

Here's the honors that I don't have:
freshman english honors(not offered at my old school)
freshman biology honors
sophmore french honors
junior year french honors

That's 4!!!!! OMG.

Hey, do you think they'll understand though? My transcript is from my old school(excluding midyear). Will they look up the courses and know that I took all that I could?

that was kind for me too. I came to the US 2004 at the beginning of my junior year from Korea. So all my korean credits got tranlsated into regular classes everything from math to social studies. The thing was that they didn't accept my english credits resulting in my taking ESL and english 9 in 11th grade. (how humiliating) I had to take english 10 in the summer, and now taking enlgish 11 and english 12. However, i'm convinced that i could have taken AP lit or AP lang and get As. It's just that i don't have the prereqs. I'm wondering how they'll look at it. MY verbal is 770 and i write for the school newspaper and won a statewide writing award. So i'm really wondering how they'll see it.

isn't that the hardest in ur context?
My schedule is the hardest in my context.

i know it's only one honors class so i annoyed him about it, until he assured me that i took the most demanding course load.

HE ASSURED YOU. LUcky!!! I MUST TALK TO MY COUNSELOR, otherwise I'll die not knowing how I died(sorry, exaggeration).

Immiralce, that's amazing. You got a 770 when you've been here for only 1 year??? I feel so horrible now about my score...I've been here forever since 5th grade, yet my verbal score sucks. I have few activities related to journalism as well. But that's a totally different story from yours.

Your korean credits are translated into regular credits? What? Since school in Korea is really hard, I'm sure they'll understand.

My schedule is the hardest in my context. But they won't know! Maybe I should include that in my update letter.

don't stress! colleges will also look at how many APs and honors your school offers.... i don't know ANYONE at my school that is taking 5 APs... its pretty much impossible due to the small selection of APs available. (i go to private christian... and yes i have to take a religion course as well! so we're in the same boat!) but yeah.. don't worry... just take the most challenging load you can handle and you're golden : )

oh yeh to put it ur way

i missed let's see (obviously because they translated just math as regular when we had NO honors class. Also ignored the fact that regular in korea is like honors in the US for science and math)
Geometry honors
Algebra2 Honors
Precalc Honors
Bio Honors
Chem honors
Physics honors(this one b/c of schedule conflict)
World history I honors
AP world history
English 9 honors(for the english ones they said i couldn't take honors with ESL)
English 10 honors (no honors durign the summer)
english 11 honors (counselor questioned if i could take honors)
AP lit or lang
DAMN that's 12!

OMG. I just remembered that my old school doesn't offer chemistry honors but my current school does. That's 5 honors!!!!! On top of that, I'm not allowed to take an AP class I ardently wanted to take BECAUSE I transferred and the class was FULL!!!

I don't think my counselor cared to explain.

Oh the pain we share. The injustice to us transfers. The unfairness of the world!

eh, sorry if I sound a little...um...but it's true!!

maybe your counselor can send a letter in with your transcript?

(somebody else probably already made this suggestion.. but i'm too lazy to scroll up and check)

imiracle, are you going to explain/did you explain your situation in a letter?
