Hi, I'm a freshman at a local university. Unfortunately, throughout high school, I didn't work hard at all. I did everything just to get by. My high school was fairly competitive and i was in the top 25% of the class with a 3.8 gpa weighted. I got a 4 on the US history and Bio AP tests and got for SATs got 680 in math and 670 in critical reading. (I think I got a 640 in writing). Suffice to say, I didn't care where I went to college when applying so here I am.

However, now I want to get into a really good university. If I work really hard here will I be able to transfer to a top-tier school? How greatly are my high school records considered when reviewing my transfer application?

what do you consider a really good university? if a 3.8 is slacking off, then i must have been sleeping through hs...but if you apply for junior xfer, hs stats are usually of minimal importance and won't restrict where you apply to

I was thinking about Boston College, Northeastern, Cornell etc.. And I don't mean just my academic performance, I meant I slacked off in EC's. Honestly, the only EC noteworthy in high school was have a job.

I was hoping all the EC's i did in college could make up for that. Does anyone know how much they weigh high school vs college when I've only been here 1 semester?

If I try to transfer into sophomore year and get rejected can I reapply for junior year?

your hs record will probably be a bigger factor in sophmore admissions than one semester of college...remember, colleges will be more impressed by the quality of your ec's (ie., having leadership positions) than just signing up for a bunch of clubs and attending their meetings
