Diet Coke + Mentos=Unclogged drain?

<p>I know this is sorta random, but do you guys think that dropping a couple of mentos in my sink and then quickly pouring some diet coke down afterwards would unclog my sink?</p>

<p>More than likely it would just fizz up and out and make a large mess.</p>

<p>You'd have to make sure to cover the drain after doing it... so that the fizz exerts force on the clog.</p>

<p>Diet coke and mentos would not create enough force to blow up your sink......</p>

<p>Yeah, it effectively releases all the dissolved carbon-dioxide (the stuff that makes fizz).</p>

<p>I'm sure the force isn't trivial (it could very well explode a soda bottle), but I doubt it would compromise a sink. Either the clog will clear or it will come back out of the drain before that occurs.</p>

<p>if you were to put a stopper on the sink so the pressure would do something to the clog im sure there would be some affect or effect idk which one.</p>
