hi. for when we fill in the SAT's we took, whats the diff. bet. math 2 and math 2C;i think math 2C is like the old sat II and math 2 is the new sat subject test. right?

some colleges say that recommend taking math 2C, but are they just behind the times?

Originally it was Math II. Then, with the advent of calculators, the Math IIC test was introduced. Recently, though, the Math IIC test was renamed Math Level 2 test, simply because the version without calculators have not been offered for some time, and probably will never be offered again.

Haha. If you want to look for obsessiveness with names, you need to look no further that the name "SAT" itself. Once the acronym for "Scholastic Aptitude Test", it is now an arbitrary combination of three letters of the alphabet that signifies nothing more than a brand name. Perhaps the CollegeBoard is pursuing the hip trend of using meaningless, but cool-sounding alphanumeric combinations as monikers brought about by our digital age. Or perhaps there's a deeper, darker motivation for the dropping of the "Aptitude" designation in the test...a sign of the fall from grace of the "aptitude" theory, perhaps, just as the "intelligent quotient" theory had failed decades ago.

What's worse... College Board has a monopoly and they're evil. My parents have paid probably about $400 on my College Board tests alone, and I still have more AP tests.

I used to think College Board was evil, but they're sponsoring Siemens Westinghouse so technically they're paying for my first year of college. Now I have to love them. ~sigh~

You know what sucks about scholarships though? After work/loan money ($3000 or so), the first thing a scholarship knocks off is your financial aid. :(
