What is the difference between Boston College and Boston University? Size, atmosphere, people, campus? And which one is more difficult to get into?

Someone else who knows more can elaborate, but BC is much harder to get into than BU. BC is also not directly in the city; it is its own campus right outside Boston. BU is part of the city.

BC: Catholic/Jesuit, harder to get into, really good hockey team, kinda cramped campus.

BU: Really huge, closer to the city, not as religious, much easier to get into.

I think the difficulty of acceptance depends on which major you are applying under..

i think i will either apply education or undecided...but from the comments you all are making it sounds like BU is much more my style

still, please don't limit yourself from three one-line comments on an online forum.

BC has more of a "college" atmosphere. This is probably due to the fact that it has an actual campus, which is gorgeous by the way. Lots of green space. BC is also a lot bigger on sports. Football, hockey, and basketball are all huge there. BU isn't so into the sports... they do have a decent hockey team though.

The thing is, BU has no campus to speak of. All of its buildings are smack in the middle of the city, in a line down the street, and most of the dorms are converted hotels. It really all comes down to what you prefer.

Academic wise, I believe BC to be superior. US News rankings aside, I took classes at BC and BU and found BC's classes to be both more accessible and more intellectual.

As per the religious aspect... at BC, it's there if you want it, but you don't really notice it if you don't. Personally, I love BC, but it's all down to what you like. I thought I preferred BU until I visited, then i ended up hating it.
